A life education forum is held at Peking University in 2019.

The 17th (2020) China Charity Ranking was released in Beijing on Tuesday and a life education charity program organized by Shanghai-based Fu Shou Yuan International Group, a funeral and interment service provider and cemetery operator, was among the top 10.

The program was launched in 2016, and nearly 120 classes, lectures, forums, exhibitions and activities on life and death education have been conducted across the nation under its umbrella, with the participation of more than 1,000 work units and over 130,000 people.

About 3 million yuan (US$423,018) was donated into the program to support cultural forums, life education new media competitions, life education cultural salons, silent walkathons and lectures last year.

The program aims to help the public reassess the meaning of life and death and promote the recognition of life values and healthy attitudes, the group said.

More life education-related events will be conducted at universities and residential communities under the program this year, the group said.

The charity ranking compiled by the China Philanthropic Times was first released in 2004. This year's event was broadcast live on 18 online platforms on Tuesday.

A total of 118 philanthropists donated 5.45 billion yuan last year, an average of 46.19 million yuan per person, rising nearly 12 million yuan from a year earlier; while 605 companies contributed 12.4 billion yuan, according to the ranking of China's top charity donors.
