Chongqing reports 5 cases of coronavirus

All five patients, who are now in a stable condition after treatment in isolation, had either worked or lived in central China's Wuhan, the municipality's health authorities said.

Chongqing in southwest China confirmed five coronavirus-related pneumonia cases on Tuesday.

The  municipality's first confirmed case was a 44-year-old woman from Wushan County in Chongqing. She developed a fever and was feeling weak when she arrived back in Wushan from Wuhan on January 15. She went to a local hospital on the same day and was put into isolation.

She tested positive for the coronavirus by the local disease control and prevention authority and was confirmed as a coronavirus case after expert evaluation on Tuesday.

She is now in a stable condition and her temperature is normal. Her close contacts are undergoing medical observation.

By 6pm on Tuesday, five cases had been confirmed across Chongqing — two in Wushan County, two in Wanzhou District and one in Changshou District. All the patients had either worked or stayed in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province

All five patients are in a stable condition and checks of 72 close contacts had detected no adverse symptoms.
