Produced by Zhang Yimou, the comedy-drama film "My People, My Homeland” has already made more than 1 billion yuan (US$147 million) at the national box office since its release on October 1.

Composed of five short stories by different directors such as Ning Hao, Xu Zheng and Chen Sicheng, the anthology film tells hilarious and heart-warming stories about the country’s ordinary people and their affinities for their hometowns.

From different perspectives, the film records the rapid development of the country and the largely improved lives of its people, as well as many touching moments in the construction of villages and cities.

Actor Li Chen attended a special screening in Shanghai on Sunday. Li plays an intelligent villager in a vignette about a village school.

Li said that many teachers have helped and influenced his studies and career. This episode of the film pays tribute to this group of educators.
