27 killed, 20 injured in China bus accident

Twenty-seven people were killed and 20 others injured after a bus turned on its side in southwest China's Guizhou Province early Sunday morning, local police said.

The bus with 47 people on board was running on a highway section in Sandu Shui Autonomous County when the accident happened, the county's public security bureau said.

The victims of the bus crash were in an official government COVID transportation bus and were being transported for COVID reasons, local media reported on Sunday.

A report in Tianyan News, which belongs to the state-owned Guizhou Daily said the bus was a vehicle specifically designed for transporting people to and from COVID quarantine.
