Most enterprises are carrying out "self-help" through organizational downsizing, restructuring and business adjustment in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a survey by Zhaopin.com.

More than half of those surveyed responded quickly, moving toward an "agile and efficient" organization.

Among them, 56.3 percent indicated that their original work business was reduced, while 39.9 percent said their business was transformed.

At the same time, enterprises are redefining their job responsibilities and workflow, and encouraging cross-departmental collaboration, which also puts forward new requirements for employees.

Nearly 70 percent of the respondents indicated that their enterprises put forward new business requirements for employees during the epidemic, such as stricter assessment indicators and skills upgrading.

Analysts pointed out that in the post-pandemic era,  daily performance measurement tools are gradually balanced with short- and medium-term goals. Greater uncertainty and change mean that managers should set agile and flexible goals instead of fixed ones.

Also, 40 percent of the respondents noted a digital office can simplify work processes and improve efficiency, and 35.5 percent thought they can help save communication time and distance cost.

However, not many enterprises have successfully completed the digital transformation, and less than 30 percent said their enterprises have adopted digital methods, the survey found.
