Three thousand packages of food donated by two media outlets and another company arrived at two neighborhoods in Xinzhuang Town in Minhang District recently, helping families in need and seniors with their food supply.

The food was donated by Shanghai Morning Post, Minhang Media Center and e-commerce giant Pinduoduo. Each package was able to feed a family of three for three days.

The food was to be delivered to the seniors, as well as to volunteers who worked at the forefront of the pandemic control and prevention battlefield, according to neighborhood staff workers.

The elderly population accounts for 45 percent of the entire population in one neighborhood, with 70 seniors being bedridden or with disabilities. In the other neighborhood, more than 900 residents are seniors at or above 60.

"We feel grateful for the companies and news agencies who came to help troubled households and seniors in our neighborhoods," said a community worker.
