Bioblitz offers nature lovers fun adventure
Nature lovers now have a rare opportunity to discover plants and wildlife at the 2017 Bioblitz, in Shanghai Botanical Garden.
The 6-hour intense nature course includes an extensive field study in the morning and a nature notebook writing session in the afternoon to catalog observed species. A team of scientists are to lead several focus groups while volunteers will help participants find plants and animals in the wild.
The annual event, by the Shanghai Wildlife Conservation Management Station, has been running for eight years. It intends to educate the public about nature, biodiversity and environmental protection. The idea of Bioblitz is to encourage a more urban understanding of nature. It also provides participants with the methods and tools to conduct their own nature surveys.
This year’s event also has an English language guide to lead five English-speaking families. Each family can have up to three participants. If you wish to register for the English language team, please send names and ages of children, nationality and parent contact information to shbaohuzhan@126.com by October 18.
