Fire drill at downtown middle school

Over 800 students and teachers took part in a fire drill at Qiyi Middle School in downtown Jing’an District yesterday morning as part of a “safety education week.”

The fire drill was organized by the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and Shanghai Education Commission.

Before the drill, an officer from the fire bureau told the students and teachers on how to escape from a fire.

The city has introduced a “safety education week” for the first week of every school semester since September 2014, and 528 classrooms on safety education at school have been set up around the city since 2016. There are also 11 regional safety education centers.
