The six-story Shanghai International Artworks Bonded Service Center in Pudong's Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone will be put into use at the end of this year.

The center will cover a total area of 68,300 square meters, involving a storage area of 52,000 square meters, so as to provide the best security for artworks, along with a commercial office building.

To satisfy the demands of clients from both home and abroad, the service center is arranged in line with international standards in terms of storage security and appropriate environment control for all cultural relics and artworks, according to Wang Jiaming, general assistant manager for Shanghai PFTZ International Culture Investment and Development Co Ltd.

More than a hundred VIP rooms and a shared space with constant temperature and humidity will be available in the storage area, together with safe-boxes for oil paintings and vaults and storerooms for ordinary collections.

In the year 2013, China’s first professional artworks bonded warehouse was opened in the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone. It has now become the most efficient and convenient access point for the importation and exportation of artworks.
