Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Bill Thomas, chairman of KPMG International, a professional service company based in Switzerland, and his delegation on Wednesday.

Ying informed his guests that Shanghai is preparing for the second China International Import Expo and upgrading its urban energy level and core competitiveness.

The establishment of the pilot registration system for the science and technology innovation board at the Shanghai Stock Exchange was an important step for the country to implement the innovation-driven national development strategy, deepen capital market reforms, and accelerate the city’s efforts in building itself into an international financial center and a technology and innovation hub.

Shanghai welcomes KPMG and other international auditors to exert their advantages and support the city’s economic and social development. The city will provide the companies operating here with a more law-abiding, international, and efficient business environment; and a stable, transparent, and fair market, the mayor added.

Thomas said KPMG is honored to witness and be a part of China’s reforms and opening-up. China has become an increasingly important market for KPMG’s strategic development goals.

The company will help more Chinese companies to expand into the overseas markets while bringing excellent companies and advanced technologies into the country.

Also, KPMG will increase its investment in Shanghai, Thomas added.
