Health authority adopts smart drinking water management

Local health authority has adopted smart drinking water management, Shanghai Health Supervision Agency said on Tuesday.

To ensure drinking water safety and quality, Shanghai has a complete system of regulations and an effective supervision network. Multi-party water quality inspections are carried out through laboratory testing, on-the-scene testing and online monitoring. Local disease prevention and control centers test drinking water randomly.

Shanghai is the first in the nation to set up a supervision system for the whole supply from water resources to resident’s homes. 

RFID, or radio frequency identification, is used to record each cleaning of water pipes and drones are used to check the safety of water facilities.
