A survey in downtown Shanghai's Jing'an District conducted earlier this year showed that local residents were keen on a concert featuring revolutionary songs. Authorities, therefore, organized a district-wide concert, starting from Sunday, at the Tianmu Road W. Subdistrict.

Li Jianlin, a renowned tenor and also a political adviser of the district, has volunteered to hold the concert. There will be top-quality shows across several neighborhoods, according to the district’s cultural authority.

This year, the country is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and from Monday the whole country will celebrate the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party.

Officials said local residents are keen on “red” revolutionary stories and performances with Shanghai elements.
