Brazilian tech startups attended a roadshow on Friday, as part of an AI contest to seek opportunities in China, the biggest export market for Brazil.

Eight programs selected from nearly 100, were presented Zhangjiang, the city's AI center.

MOB, an IoT company established in 2013, has developed data collection equipment that helps deliver real-time alerts in the workshop. It’s a small company with less than 10 employees, but last year it has made US$500,000 in sales revenue. China supplies electronic parts to the company.

The Zhangjiang International AI Competition has attracted more than 500 entrants. The final will be held in January next year in Shanghai with the winner receiving 5 million yuan (US$700,000).

Wu Jiaxiang, chairman of International Zhangjiang, said multinational companies hold the best technology and development skills while startups know what the local market really needs and can come up with practical projects.

More than 20 multinationals, including ABB, BASF and IBM, over 100 listed companies and 1,000 some well-established local entrepreneurs will offer support.
