Annual conference of city's legislative body to start on January 15

The third sessions of the 15th Shanghai People's Congress and 15th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee will be held between January 14 and 20.

The third session of the 15th Shanghai People’s Congress will be held from January 15 to 20 next year, the city's legislature announced on Thursday.

During the session, legislators will discuss the annual report of the Shanghai government, examine the results of the city’s economic and social development plans and budget for 2019, and approve the plans and budget for 2020.

They will also discuss the annual reports of the standing committee of the congress, Shanghai Higher People’s Court and Shanghai People’s Procuratorate.

Decisions will also be made on the establishment and renaming of certain committees within the congress and appointments.

Shanghai’s first regulation on the construction of the city as an innovation center is set to be voted on at the annual session.

Meanwhile, the third session of the 15th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee will be held from January 14 to 18.

Local political advisers will listen to and review the work report of the standing committee and the committee's work proposals.

They will attend the the third session of the 15th Shanghai People’s Congress, hearing and discussing the local government's annual report and some other related reports.

They will add new members to the standing committee and review and pass some reports and decisions.
