Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong checks prevention measures.

Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang and Mayor Ying Yong visited a hospital, the government service hotline office, the disease control and prevention center, a railway station and the public security bureau on Friday to check prevention and control measures following the coronavirus outbreak and to deliver Spring Festival greetings to staff on duty.

The health of the public is the priority, said Li, who heard about Ruijin Hospital’s screening and diagnosis procedures and prevention measures during the visit.

The hospital has established a clinical team which will be working round the clock during the holiday. Li reminded hospital staff to take precautions and prevent infection.

At the 12345 government service hotline office, which has had a significant increase in calls from the public about the coronavirus, he told staff to promote knowledge about its prevention.

Ying ordered the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the police to take strict disease prevention measures.

He also ordered prevention and control measures at airports, ports and stations as he delivered festival greetings to workers.
