The 66 medical workers sent by Shanghai East Hospital to aid Wuhan's fight against the coronavirus had a reunion dinner in Shanghai on Thursday.

Together with their families, they were treated to a banquet at the Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai, close to their hospital in the center of Lujiazui in the Pudong New Area, as part of a welcome-back celebration.

Cardiovascular physician Li Xin said it’s heart-warming to receive so much care.

“I’m a member of the city’s fourth medical team to aid Wuhan. I have resumed work at the hospital and I’m quite busy these days,” she said.

Her experience in Wuhan has become a source of strength encouraging her to devote more energy to her work, she added.

Wang Hua, deputy director of Pudong, said the dinner was held to pay respect to these medics.

Gregor Wateler, the hotel’s general manager, also said the hotel was happy to serve the medics.

The event was co-organized by the hotel, the hospital, Lujiazui’s financial authority, local subdistrict and Pudong’s food safety association.
