The 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival will be held from July 25 to August 2, officials said on Friday. The local event will be the first of its kind held in China and the world's first physical film festival since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Also, the 26th Shanghai TV Festival is scheduled for August 3-7.

The festivals will host a variety of events both online and offline. Film screenings will be held at cinemas, outdoor spaces and on streaming platforms. The film fest will also host a film forum and a Belt and Road film exhibition. However, there will be no opening and closing ceremonies.

The TV festival will host the Magnolia Awards, an industry forum, an Internet summit and an exhibition of international programs.

Online ticket sales for the film festival’s international movie panorama will start on Monday at dianying.taobao.com.

Tickets will not be sold at cinemas to reduce human contact. The occupancy rate for each film screening will not exceed 30 percent of theater capacity.
