4 new COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

Shanghai reported four new imported COVID-19 cases on Tuesday while three patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Wednesday morning.

Two of the imported patients are Chinese nationals flying from the United Arab Emirates. They departed from the UAE on August 5 on the same flight and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 6.

The third patient is a Japanese who left Japan and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 9.

The fourth patient is a Chinese working in Singapore who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 8. 

They have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while all the 106 close contacts on the planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 456 imported cases, 402 have been discharged upon recovery and 54 are still hospitalized.

Three imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Tuesday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
