A three-day charity bazaar will be held at Sinan Mansions in Huangpu District from Friday as part of the Shanghai philanthropy partnership month, which will also include forum, salons, photo exhibition, and charity activities, the city's civil affairs authorities announced on Thursday.

The Sun bazaar, starting from 4pm on Friday and 3pm over the weekend, will gather more than 40 social organizations and feature a variety of activities such as installation art production, art donation and charity sales, art and science and technology experiences, and charity performances, the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau said.

Artists will create artworks at the scene and invite visitors to participate in their creation, and social organizations will bring their charity projects to the venue.

Visitors will be able to experience intangible cultural heritage such as sugar painting and palm fibre weaving and enjoy music and delicacies, as well as appreciate home furnishings designed with a tea element.

Sachets and handicraft works from autistic children and disabled people will be displayed.

The bazaar will include six themed areas and the money collected will be donated to projects helping children in need.

The Shanghai philanthropy partnership month will kick off at Shanghai Gongyi Xintiandi, a government-subsidized charity program park, on Saturday, which marks the fifth Charity Day of China, the bureau said.

A charity forum will be held in Huangpu District on Sunday as part of the monthlong events, centering on charity development and community governance, according to the bureau.

A social organization charity start-up competition, 24 salons and a photo exhibition displaying the city's 17,000 social organizations' efforts in combating COVID-19 are also on the agenda.

A charity event involving about 200 outlets of some 20 catering businesses in the city is also part of the events and restaurants will make donations from the meals they sell.

A charity micro film festival will be launched on Sunday.
