5 imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

Shanghai reported five new imported novel coronavirus cases on Thursday, while five patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health in Commission on Friday morning.

The first new patient is a Chinese working in Singapore who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 24.

The second and third cases are Chinese working in Guinea and Mali, respectively. They transferred via France and arrived at the Shanghai airport on the same flight on September 1. 

The fourth patient is a Chinese studying in the United States who arrived at local airport on September 2.

The last one is a Chinese working in the Philippines who arrived at Shanghai airport on September 2.

All the new patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 95 close contacts on the planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 571 imported cases, 519 have been discharged upon recovery and 52 are still hospitalized.

No imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Thursday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
