Shanghai has added another 55 new parks so far this year, bringing the total number to 406, city greenery authorities announced on Friday.
Minhang District has 11 new parks this year, topping the city's districts, followed by Fengxian District and the Pudong New Area, according to the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.
The Meilong National Defense Education Park in Minhang features sculptures and paintings of the revolutionary past, while Jinxin Garden in the same district has grassy areas where activities such as golf competitions are held regularly.

The newly built Paopao Park in Fengxian District has four areas. In the Juxian Garden in the park, there are eight attractions such as a wisteria corridor and a cherry blossom boulevard. The other three areas provide amusement facilities for children and feature herbs and colorful autumn foliage plants.
Among the 55 new parks, 15 are pocket parks, the bureau said.
The city now boasts 406 parks, including 39 pocket parks, according to the bureau.
Efforts are being made to improve infrastructure and services at city parks, and expanded green spaces also lift the eco-environment and living quality of Shanghai residents, the bureau said.
It is estimated that the city's per capita green space will reach 8.5 square meters by the end of this year, compared with 8.3 square meters last year, according to the bureau.
