Doctors from Shanghai Yodak Cardio-Thoracic Hospital offered emergency rescue training to local residents, company staff and taxi drivers before the fall of World First Aid Day on Saturday.

The day is an annual event to raise public awareness and promote the importance of first aid training in preventing injuries and saving lives.

Dr Zhang Xiaofei from Shanghai Yodak offered courses on first aid, cardiovascular health and CPR. Residents said the training was extremely useful, as they were taught the proper steps and techniques for dealing with medical emergencies.

Zhang Haifeng, an official from Dazhong Taxi Co, said first aid and CPR skills are necessary for taxi drivers, who may face emergency situations during work.
