2 imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

The city reported two new imported novel coronavirus cases on Sunday, while three patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Monday morning.

The first new patient is an Egyptian who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on September 17.

The other one is a Chinese working in Guinea who arrived at the Shanghai airport on September 18.

Both patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 56 close contacts on the same planes with them have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 632 imported cases, 584 have been discharged upon recovery and 48 are still hospitalized.

One imported suspected case is undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Sunday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
