Local hospitals sent over 1,500 medical experts to offer consultations and lectures during a monthlong campaign on infectious disease prevention and control, benefiting over 1 million residents, said the Shanghai Health Enhancement Commission on Tuesday.

Autumn and winter are peak seasons for infectious diseases and there is a risk of relapse of the novel coronavirus epidemic. Public education on disease prevention and personal awareness is extremely important for people’s health and safety, health officials said.

Health authorities also developed programs in line with their specialities. In Songjiang District, information on disease prevention was added to fans, dishware and recyclable bags, while Hongkou District launched a healthy diet competition to invite residents to share their menus.
