The 19th West Lake International Expo and the 3rd World Leisure Expo will be held between October 20 and November 12 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, authorities announced in Shanghai on Wednesday.

The West Lake International Expo is an important platform for Hangzhou to develop the expo industry, as well as a means for Hangzhou to go abroad, and for the world to better understand the city.

The leisure expo will be a platform to highlight the latest developments of leisure industries from around the world.

With 33 programs to be held, the two events are expected to achieve a trade turnover of 10 billion yuan and attract US$1 billion in foreign investment, on top of 10 billion yuan in domestic investment.

Since Hangzhou hosted the G20 Summit last year, the city government has decided to give full play to the post-G20 effect — this year’s West Lake Expo will be organized in the theme of “magnifying the G20 effect.”

A special conference will be held on the topic of urban development and building the city into a destination for international conferences and exhibitions, besides forums in the theme of artificial intelligence, brain science, computing, cultural and creative industries, and other areas.

Leisure will also be a key element during the 24-day event, with the leisure expo being in the theme of “Better Leisure, Better Life.”

A total of 51 leisure cities from 40 countries and regions related to the “One Belt One Road” initiative will participate in an exhibition, one of the key programs of the expo, to showcase their own characteristics of leisure life and the leisure industry.
