Domestic film 'Youth' tops Chinese box office

Veteran director Feng Xiaogang's "Youth" topped the Chinese box office, taking 293 million yuan (US$44.3 million) in its debut week, according to latest statistics as of Tuesday.

Domestic fantasy film "The Thousand Faces of Dunjia" came in second, grossing 210 million yuan in its first week.

Disney's universally-acclaimed "Coco" dropped to third place after two weeks leading the box office. The film has raked in 1.02 billion yuan since its release on Nov. 24.

"Paddington 2," a big-screen adaptation of a family classic about a bear lost in a big city, came in fourth, taking 170 million yuan since hitting screens on Dec. 8.

Rounding out the top five was "Loving Vincent," which has taken nearly 55 million yuan since its release on Dec. 8.
