Food packs to be delivered to residents in Huabao Community.

With life's necessities hard to come by in the current situation in Shanghai, Zhao Bingxian, a businessman in the catering industry, has given out food packs to his neighbors, and the elders living alone in Huabao Community in Qibao Town.

Zhao and his wife learned some of their elderly neighbors have difficulties buying vegetables due to the lockdown. The catering company Zhao runs has seven transportation vehicles, which have a green travel pass.

Zhao asked the community committee to give him the number of the senior people in the community and at noon on March 31, he sent food packs to them.

Volunteers gave out these heartwarming gifts to the elderly living alone.

These volunteers are all residents of the community and now they have become delivery personnel to help send things to other residents.

Auntie Zhu is one of the elderly who received a food pack. She said she was really touched by her kind neighbor.

"When I was away on business, I cannot take care of my parents," Zhao said. "Some neighbors helped them a lot. Now it is time for me to help others.

"I am glad to help them if I can do something."
