Children learn to grind soy beans to make tofu pudding.

Children from the Jinshatan residential area have recently visited the Wushe training center of Shanghai Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry to learn the traditional skills of making "ancient tofu pudding."

"Tofu pudding is delicious. I was surprised that it comes from small soybeans," said Liu Letian, a child who took part in the activity. "In a group of three, we can grind beans, filter bean dregs and add lactone into tofu. It only takes three steps to make tofu pudding."

Under the guidance of the science teacher, the children worked with each other, poured soybeans on the top of the stone mill and added water while slowly pushing the mill. Soon, white soybean juice flowed out of the groove at the bottom of the stone mill.

After that, the soybean juice was put into a gauze bag for filtration, poured into a small pot to boil, and lactone was added.

The children waited for the formation of tofu pudding with great anticipation. Seeing that the tofu pudding at the bottom of the pot was gradually taking shape and simply adding the seasoning, they enjoyed a bowl of unique tofu pudding.

This activity allowed the children to experience the simple style of the millennium agricultural civilization while exercising patience, according to their teacher.
