Shanghai Anpel Laboratory Technologies in Yexie Town has been running at full capacity to meet the new year's orders for designing and manufacturing standard products for testing important COVID-19 drug components.

The 1997-founded company produces chemical reagents, sample preparation items, laboratory general consumables and analytical instruments, among other things.

"We respond quickly to the market, and it's a great way to start the new year," said Zhao Yuan, deputy head of the Research and Development Department.

He said that the company will focus more on new materials, the chemical industry and medicine.

"These are the core industries that the country has been rapidly developing in recent years, but for a long time they have been dominated by a large number of imported brands," Zhao added. "By regularly launching new items, we seek to achieve domestication to cut costs and improve efficiency."

Anpel is also dedicated to the development of the food and environmental safety industries. In 2022, China issued a number of food safety and environmental protection requirements.

"We developed and produced the consumables and testing materials that meet the national standards as quickly as possible," said Zhao.

From an agent of foreign brands in 1997 to a developer and manufacturer of over 600,000 types of lab instruments, consumables, and chemical reagents and vials today, Anpel adheres to its localization and domestication strategy.

After the first phase of the new factory's operation began in 2020, the expansion project, which will include workshops and labs, is expected to double the capacity.
