The romantic comedy, “Almost A Comedy,” is now showing at cinemas across China.

Starring Ren Suxi and Wu Yuhan, the latest film production from Mahua FunAge features romantic experiences of three young people in a big city, focusing on the nature and causes of growing pains.

“Almost A Comedy” was produced with the same crew, including directors Liu Lu and Zhou Shen, used for the acclaimed 2016 comedy, “Mr Donkey,” a thought-provoking story about a rural school.

According to Liu, the nationwide scouting for the film’s actors lasted three months, and some are amateurs who present natural and simple interpretations of the movie’s characters.

“Almost A Comedy” also reveals the dilemma for today’s urban youth forced to make many compromises to survive the competition and pressures of everyday life.

Its underlying message is for young people to stay true to their hearts and dreams and persevere through all the challenges they face.
