The city’s three main railway stations are expected to see off 4.29 million passengers in the holiday travel rush, starting from Thursday.

Passenger  traffic is expected to increase by 268,000, or 6.66 percent, over the same period last year.

The 11-day travel rush, will end on October 8, the city’s railway authority said. It added the traffic peak is expected this Sunday, when about 485,000 passengers are expected to leave the city via the railways.

To meet demand, the authority has added 221 train services from Thursday to October 8, with this Sunday and the following Sunday being given priority.
