Shanghai mayor invites Australian companies to attend Import Expo in November

Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Steven Ciobo, Australia’s minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment last Saturday.

Ying said China and Australia’s cooperation in trade and cultural industries have been on the rise in recent years, and China will unfalteringly promote economic globalization and further open its markets to the outside world.

This November, Shanghai will host the country’s first International Import Expo, which shows the country’s determination to further open up. Shanghai welcomes Australian companies and other countries to take part in the expo, Ying added.

Ciobo said Australia is China’s good friend and cooperation partner and it’s willing to maintain a good relation with Shanghai. Australia will take part in the upcoming CIIE and use this visit to promote cooperation in various industries between the two countries.

Jan Adams, Australia’s ambassador to China, also attended the meeting.
