Man held for various frauds after ex files police report

A 21-year-old man has been detained for allegedly defrauding people using various methods, police said on Thursday.

Police in Huangpu District started to investigate after a woman, surnamed Gao, reported on August 16 that she was defrauded by the man, her ex, and lost a lot of money.

The suspect, Xu Zibo, defrauded people using false investment and business initiatives, among other methods, police said.

Xu is also known by the name Li Zibo.

Investigation is still underway, and police are requesting people who may have been defrauded by Xu to report their cases to Xiaodongmen Police Station.

A Weibo user posted earlier this month that Xu owed him 200 yuan and never returned the money. The user then claimed that over 100 people, including six of his ex-girlfriends, contacted him and said they were also victims.

Xu claims to be "very rich," according to the netizen.
