Work on the entry section of S26 expressway connecting Hongqiao and the city center has finished and the road will be open to traffic today.

The entry section, also known as the Shanghai-Changzhou Expressway, stretches 7 kilometers from Huaxin Town in Qingpu District to the Beidi and Jiamin elevated roads in Minhang District.

It will relieve congestion in the northwest part of the city and provide more travel options for people living in Qingpu and Minhang districts.

Renovation of another expressway, the G15 which links Shanghai with neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, has also finished. It too reopens today.

Both roads will play important roles during the China International Import Expo in November, easing traffic pressure around the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
