NINE batches of headsets and earphones have been found to be unsafe.

The Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau checked 30 batches, with nine judged substandard.

Two substandard Philips batches were the SHM7110U and SHM1900 models which were sold at RT-Mart. Other substandard batches included the Mexson and Hyundai brands.

The sound pressure on all was faulty, according to the bureau. When sound pressure is too high it can result in hearing damage.
