The Pujiang Innovation Forum will raise its curtains on Tuesday in Shanghai.

The forum is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Shanghai government that aims to build a platform for the international exchange of innovation and development.

This year, the forum is themed on innovation-driven development and supply-side structural reform in a new age. Portugal will be the country of honor and Guangdong the province of honor.

Four special forums will be held focusing on youth innovation, green technology cooperation with Belt and Road countries, the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta, and China-Portugal cooperation.

There will also be 11 seminars on entrepreneurship, finance, policy making culture and future science, all designed to spark more ideas about technological innovation.

On Monday, the forum first released a series of index reports on knowledge competitiveness, regional innovation, the science innovation index and scientists’ choice of city. Shanghai remained top-ranking in the reports.

A roundtable forum of youth innovation was held on Monday for the first time as well. More than 20 young scientists from all over the world sat down with 10 deans or headmasters to talk about how to inspire more youth entrepreneurs and to make Shanghai a hotbed of cutting-edge technological innovation.
