The China Toilet Revolution Innovation Expo and Summit Forum kicked off in Xuhui District on Sunday to mark World Toilet Day on Monday, featuring advanced technologies and products applied in smart public toilets and toilet management systems.

Odor-free technology, face recognition toilet paper machines, air purifiers, intelligent toilet seat covers and vehicle-attached mobile toilets are featured at the expo held at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center.

A total of 26 projects involving the construction and renovation of public toilets with a value of 12.8 million yuan (US$1.84 million) were signed on the first day of the expo, which covers about 10,000 square meters and gathers about 100 exhibitors in the toilet industry, according to the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.

A summit forum was held on Sunday during the event, gathering officials, experts, scholars and enterprise representatives to discuss toilet revolution and new technologies. Participants shared their expertise in public toilet construction and design, technology and product innovation, and toilet management to promote toilet revolution and improve public toilet management and service quality.

The expo also attracts solution providers for toilet renovation in the countryside who display their latest technologies in the treatment of waste and ecological toilet upgrades.

China launched a "toilet revolution" across the country in 2015 with an eye on developing domestic tourism and improving people’s life quality.
