Chen Shida, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Baoshan District, has been expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office, the CPC Shanghai Commission for Discipline Inspection announced on Monday.

An investigation into Chen's case found that he had severely violated Party discipline and obstructed the investigation.

Chen violated the eight-point rules on frugality by accepting entertainment, travel, gifts and cash. He took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others, accepted huge amounts of money and gifts, and maintained improper relationships with private business owners.

Chen's illegal gains will be confiscated, and his case transferred to the judiciary, the commission said.
