Dates for upcoming political conferences announced

The second meeting of the 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee will be held between January 26 and 30,  the committee announced on Thursday.

There will be a preparatory meeting on the afternoon of January 25.

The four-and-a-half-day meeting will review the work report of the standing committee of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai Committee and the report of how the committee works on the political advisers' proposals.

Meanwhile, the second session of the 15th Shanghai People’s Congress, the city’s legislative body, will be held from January 27 to 31 next year, the congress said on Thursday.

During the five-day session, legislators will discuss the annual report of the Shanghai government, peruse the city’s economic and social development plans and budget execution results of 2018, and approve the plans and budget for 2019.

They will also discuss the annual report of the Standing Committee of the congress, Shanghai Higher People’s Court and Shanghai People’s Procuratorate.

On top of that, legislators are expected to vote on the draft of the city’s first-ever regulation on the management of domestic waste.

Decisions will also be made on the establishment and renaming of certain committees within the congress and appointments.
