Professor David Evans gives a lecture to children.

A four-day science camp in which renowned scientists demystify science for local children kicked off on Wednesday at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.

Over the four days, six scientists who are experts in biology, chemistry and astronomy will give "entertaining yet digestible" science classes to 50 primary school students. They include David Evans, chairman of the Beijing branch of UK’s Royal Society of Chemistry, and Sun Wei-hsin, director of Taiwan’s natural science museum.

Children will listen to lectures and take part in interactive activities such as role playing and music shows to better understand how scientists work, what the stories are behind fossils, and what outer space looks like.
