Pudong primary school joins famous education group
School administrators and government officials unveil the plaque of Jianping Lingang Primary School on Friday.
Lingang No.1 Primary School in the Pudong New Area officially had its name changed to Jianping Lingang Primary School on Friday to join the famous Jianping Education Group and share its educational resources.
Xu Wen, former vice principal of Jianping Experimental Primary School, joined the new member of the educational group in Lingang three weeks ago as its new principal.
“I will bring the operation model and educational philosophy of Jianping to the school and enhance exchanges among teachers in the experimental school and the Lingang school,” he said. “But the Lingang school also has its own unique strengths, such as its close relationship with the five universities nearby.”
Xu said he had visited all five universities in the past three weeks and was told that they would do their best to support the development of the primary school as most of their faculties' children are or will be students of the school.
The launch of Jianping Lingang Primary School is another step for Lingang to introduce high-quality education resources into the area to improve its educational strength. It is also a way to attract and retain talent needed for the development of Lingang, which is far from the city center.
The school also organized an “Open Campus Day” on Friday for nearby kindergarten students and their parents to have a closer look at the school to help in making a decision on whether or not to apply.
“My son will attend primary school in September and I’m glad to see the school is now a member for the famous Jianping education group,” said a father surnamed Xu, who is also a teacher at the Shanghai Ocean University. “It means that the local government has been attaching great importance to the education of children here and it makes me feel that the future here will be brighter.”
Kindergarten students and parents visit the school on Friday.
