Some roads in the Pudong New Area will be closed to traffic this weekend as the 2019 Shanghai International Half Marathon will be held there on Sunday, Shanghai police said on Monday.

The 21-kilometer race will see 15,000 runners start from Pudong’s Oriental Pearl TV Tower at 7am and pass through Nanpu Bridge, Shibo Avenue and Qiantan Park before finishing at the Oriental Sports Center. Roads near the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the Oriental Sports Center will be particularly affected.

Yongyao Road between Yaolong and Dongyu roads will be shut for 14 hours from 10pm on Saturday until noon on Sunday. Dongyu Road between Yangsi Road W. and Yongyao Road will be shut from 7am to 12pm on Sunday.

Fenghe Road will be off limits between the ring road where the tower is located and Binjiang Avenue, as well as Mingzhuta Road between Fenghe Road and Binjiang Avenue from 5am to 7:30am on Sunday.

Along the route of the race, vehicles will be banned with no separating fences from 6:45am to 10:45am.

Meanwhile, four ferry lines — Dongjin, Dongfu, Yangfu and Nanlu – will not be in service from 6:45am to 8:35am on Sunday.
