Shanghai High-Tech Films and Television City in Songjiang District will play an important part in Shanghai’s film and TV industry, officials said on Wednesday during the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival.

It will be an agglomeration of high-tech film companies and studios.

Public service platform will offer copyright advice, location coordination, big data analysis and content incubation.

New theaters will be built. Exhibitions and competitions will be organized, with awards for contributions to Chinese cinema.

The project to encourage international high-tech enterprises and film and TV projects will receive wide support from the local government.

According to Zhao Yong, an official with the Songjiang District government, there will also be film schools and training centers.

Construction of the main areas will be completed within five years, with all basic functions available around 2025.

Meanwhile, Bona Film Group released its “Pride of China” trilogy at the festival, a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

The trilogy, composed of “The Bravest,” “Chairman Mao 1949” and “The Chinese Pilot,” is based on true events.

Starring Huang Xiaoming and Du Jiang, “The Bravest,” about Chinese firefighters, is slated for release on August 1.

“Chairman Mao 1949,” a historical epic, follows Mao Zedong’s efforts in the founding of New China.

“The Chinese Pilot,” to be released on September 30, is adapted from the experiences of Sichuan Airlines’ captain Liu Chuanjian. Liu calmly handled an emergency landing and saved the lives of 119 passengers.
