Minhang District has set up 47 volunteer stations and organized 39 teams of volunteers to beef up services for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in November.

The stations all have medical kits, maps, CIIE brochures and other promotion materials. Volunteers will provide services on information counseling, CIIE promotion, guidance on garbage sorting and meet some other personal needs of the visitors.

They will also help with disputes and any emergencies.

The volunteers all have received training on skills including using polite language, reception etiquette and emergency rescue.

The district is also cooperating with universities, enterprises and organizations in Minhang to enlist volunteers for CIIE and so far 10 students from the East China Normal University have signed up to serve at the National Exhibition and Convention Center during the event.

At a 50-day countdown ceremony on Monday, the volunteer teams and stations were awarded licenses with some other service groups from all walks of life in Minhang being awarded flags.

Ni Yaoming, director of Minhang District, told the ceremony that everyone in the district has a part fo play.

“After 50 days, no matter where we are working — streets or lanes; hotels, banks or farmer's markets; residential complexes, schools, hospitals, shopping centers, restaurants or transportation hubs, we all should prepare the best environment, best order, best service and the most brilliant smile for CIIE.”
