Metro prepares for holiday passengers

More than 12.95 million people are expected to use the city’s Metro network today as the seven-day National Day break is quickly approaching, said Shanghai Shentong Metro Group.

Metro Lines 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 will extend their hours of operation for today, October 4 and 5 to facilitate heavy passengers flows, said the Metro operator.

Lines 1, 2, 4 and 12 will also add extra trains on the first three days of the break, as well as on October 6.

Meanwhile, East Nanjing Road Station on Lines 2 and 10 will close at 4:30pm between October 1 and 5. The Metro operator recommends passengers take other lines or get off at nearby stations such as Yuyuan Garden or People’s Square if they want to visit the Bund.
