The Shanghai branch of the Centre Pompidou is expected to be open on November 8.

The Paris museum, which has one of the largest collections of contemporary art in the world, pursues an intensive policy of openness at the international level, especially in Asia.

In the summer of 2017, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Shanghai West Bund Development Group with the support of the Xuhui government to work on the opening of the Centre Pompidou.

The local branch of the museum is part of a continuing cultural collaboration between France and China, which will last until 2025.

Artworks from the Centre Pompidou's Paris collection will be exhibited in the new space, the West Bund Art Museum, designed by the British architect David Chipperfield.

Within the cultural exchange, the Centre Pompidou will also have a chance to feature Chinese contemporary art in Paris.
