Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Shanghai on Sunday.

Li expressed a warm welcome to the Greek leader for attending the 2nd China International Import Expo on behalf of the Shanghai government and people. Greece is a guest of honor at this year’s CIIE, which runs from November 5 to 10.

The CIIE is an important step for China to open its market further to the world, Li noted. “We welcome Greece as the guest of honor to introduce quality products and services of more Greek companies to enter the Chinese market and share development opportunities,” he added.

Greece is an important country along the “Belt and Road”, of which Shanghai is an important city as well. “Under the framework of the “Belt and Road”, we are willing to continue to deepen cooperation and exchanges in various fields and make positive contributions to the development of friendly relations between China and Greece,” Li said.

More Chinese companies and Shanghai enterprises are welcome to invest in Greece to further deepen cooperation in shipping, port, tourism, agriculture and manufacturing to achieve win-win development, Mitsotakis said.

Zhang Qiyue, Chinese Ambassador to Greece, and Shanghai leaders Zhuge Yujie and Zong Ming also attended the meeting.
