Several tourist attractions in Shanghai have announced refunds, cut capacity or canceled activities following the coronavirus outbreak.

The Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower in the Pudong New Area has cut its visitor capacity to 22,000 from 36,000. All visitors need to have their temperatures checked and those with abnormal readings will be refused entry.

UV disinfection lights are in place and its staff are wearing masks.

Shanghai Happy Valley, an amusement park in Songjiang District, is allowing holders of tickets before Wednesday to reschedule visits on any other day within the next six months, it announced on Thursday.

It is also offering refunds after tickets expire.

Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park in Pudong offers a full refund for those who have purchased admission but want to cancel. The same policy applies to its hotel, the park operator said.

China Maritime Museum is canceling a shadow play performance originally scheduled between January 27 and 30 and a calligraphy event on January 27.

It has also closed interactive items in limited spaces such as the 4D cinema, children's activity center, and navigation simulator and halted its guidance service to avoid crowds gathering.

All education activities to be hosted at the museum have been suspended.

It has also set a daily limit of 3,000 visitors with temperatures checked before entry.

The Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism has ordered tourist attractions to delay or cancel activities expected to attract large crowds.

It has ordered attractions to prepare masks and temperature check devices and told travel agencies to prevent tour groups from Wuhan staying in the city.
