City reports another 16 coronavirus cases

Shanghai confirmed another 16 coronavirus cases and cleared 52 suspected cases on Thursday, according to the Shanghai Health Commission. 

This pushes the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 128, including 67 males and 61 females, aged between 7 and 88. By now, 225 suspected cases have been ruled out, said the local commission.

The newly diagnosed patients include six from Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, one from Anhui Province and nine Shanghai residents, including those with local residency and people staying in the city for over six months. 

The patient from Anhui came to visit relatives in Shanghai and had previously been to hospital for symptoms including coughing.

The local residents include five living in the Pudong New Area, two in Hongkou District and one each in Changning and Minhang districts.

Of the total 128 confirmed cases, 84 have lived or traveled in Hubei Province, two have lived or traveled in other provinces, 40 have had contact with infected patients and two had no connection with Hubei.

Among them, 58 are from outside of Shanghai, including 42 from Wuhan, 14 from other cities in Hubei, and one each from Anhui and Heilongjiang provinces. Seventy people are local residents, including 22 living in Pudong, eight in Jing’an, six in Changning, five each in Xuhui, Minhang and Fengxian, four each in Huangpu and Hongkou, three in Songjiang, two each in Baoshan, Jiading and Qingpu, and one in Yangpu and Jinshan each.

Currently, 117 of the patients are in stable condition, five are critical, another five have been discharged from hospital upon recovery and one has died. Another 164 suspected cases are undergoing test.
