Police in Huangpu District have started using a flying drone and a wheeled robot to remind people to wear masks in public and avoid gatherings.

The drone and robot mainly patrol the most frequented areas of the district, such as the Bund.

When officers operating the drone spot people who are not wearing masks, against the requirements of the government, they will broadcast a reminder through a speaker attached to the device.

Police said the purpose of using the drone is to avoid close contact with people as much as possible.

The robot, which can patrol on its own without the presence of a police officer, uses video cameras and sensors to navigate and broadcasts health tips to pedestrians.
